At the initiative of AzerGold CJSC, ecological and educational events were arranged on the occasion of April 22 – International Earth Day.

As part of the International Earth Day week, a tree planting campaign was held on April 21 in the Mushfigabad settlement, jointly arranged by the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources and AzerGold Closed Joint-Stock Company.

The campaign was attended by First Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, Rashad Ismayilov, Chairman of AzerGold CJSC’s Board, Zakir Ibrahimov, as well as the leadership, employees, and volunteers from both institutions. During the event, Eldar pine and olive trees, suitable for the soil and climate conditions of the Absheron Peninsula, were planted.

On April 22, an excursion was organized for AzerGold management and employees to the Mud Volcanoes Tourism Complex in the Gobustan village of Absheron district.

At the excursion, information on the local mud volcanoes was provided, and the Joint-Stock Company’s team closely observed the Gilinj mud volcano.

At the complex, in the exhibition halls rich with exhibits demonstrating the evolution of our planet, useful information on the history of the animal world was provided.

At the Minerals exhibition, rare precious stones, crystals, and geological samples from different regions of our country, as well as rocks consisting of various mineral mixes, were demonstrated.

It should be noted that International Earth Day was first celebrated on April 22, 1970, in the USA. Then, about 20 million people arranged various events to raise attention to environmental protection and expressed their position. According to a resolution adopted by the UN General Assembly in 2009, International Earth Day has been celebrated internationally every year on April 22.
