AzerGold awards the winners of “Pearls of Karabakh”

The coin design contest announced by AzerGold Closed Joint Stock Company (CJSC) and Heydar Aliyev Center ended. The winners of the contest were declared on the Award Ceremony held at headquarters of AzerGold.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board of AzerGold CJSC Khayyam Farzaliyev said that the design competition was met with great interest and totally 887 projects were submitted. The jury of well-known experts, designers and artists from the country selected the winners out of 195 projects that qualified for the next stage in the light of aesthetic appearance, conceptual theme, uniqueness and applicability. Remarking upon the production of new coins on the basis of the successful design samples, the deputy chairman pointed out that the description of the elements of centuries-old national and spiritual values of Karabakh on the new coins will add special value to the products and they will forever live on our national gold.

Mahabbat Mehdiyeva, the director of Heydar Aliyev Heritage Research and Promotion Department at Heydar Aliyev Center highlighted the role of the competition in revealing young talents and added that regular implementation of such projects would be important in training a new generation of designers in the future. Mehdiyeva also said that the competition's dedication to Karabakh, which is of special significance for our people, earned a strong interest of not only artists and designers, but also the public.

The event was followed with the announcement of the successful design samples and the authors of those projects. Thus, upon the final decision of the jury, the authors of "Daş izlər" (Stone Traces) by Ali Amirov, “Laləzar körpüsü”(Lalazar Bridge) by Emin Aslanov and “Qarabağ – Həyat ağacı” ("Karabakh - Tree of Life") by Elnara Dadashzade were declared top three winners of the contest, respectively. In the last stage of the competition, Narmin Rustamli's project “Şuşa Qarabağın incisidir” ("Shusha is the Pearl of Karabakh"), which received the majority of online votes - 1528 votes, won in the nomination of "Follower's sympathy". At the awarding ceremony, the 1st place winner received a cash award of AZN 3,000, while the 2nd place winner AZN 2,000, and the 3rd place winner and nominee were honored AZN 1,000 and diplomas.

The winners shared their impressions of the competition and thanked the organizers for creating such a great opportunity to reveal and promote new talents.

Notably, the contest jointly organized by AzerGold CJSC and Heydar Aliyev Center is dedicated to the brilliant victory of our triumphant army under the leadership of Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev. The contest serves to raise awareness of the ancient history, culture, intangible cultural heritages of Karabakh.
