The Chairman of Executive Board of AzerGold Zakir Ibrahimov met with a delegation led by Major General Kamal Azfar, the Director-General of Frontier Works Organization of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

During the meeting it was noted that friendly and fraternal ties between the two countries are at a high level and great opportunities exist for cooperation in the economic sphere, especially in the mining sector.

The Chairman briefed the participants on the achievements of AzerGold in exploration, production and other spheres, as well as the launch of new deposits, work done to increase economic efficiency in the mining sector and successful cooperation with foreign companies.

It was mentioned that AzerGold, which started production with only one field, was actively preparing several deposits of non-ferrous metals, and at the end of last year, it managed to put into operation another gold deposit Aghyokhush-1. In addition, practical steps were taken on the basis of the existing Chovdar ore processing area to create an integrated processing site for centralized processing of ores extracted from several deposits (gold deposits Agyokhush-2, Agyokhush-3, Mereh, Tulallar and Narchala) which are considered inefficient for independent operation. The creation of this field laid the foundation for the phased exploitation of these deposits without the construction of a new processing plant and related infrastructure, with an increase in the efficiency factor.

Moreover, Zakir Ibrahimov stated that according to the approved plan, six more gold deposits, one polymetallic and four copper deposits, as well as the sulfide stage of Chovdar gold deposit, will be put into operation in 2021-2027.

Furthermore, he emphasized that the liberation of Karabakh by our valiant army under the leadership of Supreme Commander-In-Chief has opened new prospects for cooperation in the mining sector of the region.

Noting that the Frontier Works Organization specializes in civil and military infrastructure, communication projects, as well as mining in Pakistan, Major General Kamal Azfar voiced the organization’s intent about benefiting from AzerGold’s best practices in mining and requested for specialized trainings by Company’s professional staff in order to transform the organization into a modern one.

The Chairman, in its turn, stressed the importance of exchange of experience in the field of mining, noting that AzerGold has sufficient experience in organizing trainings at the international level and is always ready to support the friendly and brotherly state of Pakistan.

The parties exchanged views on joint activities, discussed next steps and agreed to develop a training plan for the experience of best practices in the near future.
