AzerGold hosts scholarship awards ceremony

On March 10, the award ceremony of the winners of the Scholarship Program announced by AzerGold CJSC for vocational and higher education institutions was held.

The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Education Emin Amrullayev, Chairman of the Executive Board of "AzerGold" CJSC Zakir Ibrahimov, Deputy Director of the State Agency on Vocational Education Jeyhun Karamov, as well as rectors of higher education institutions and the winners.

Opening the event, the Chairman of the Executive Board of AzerGold Zakir Ibrahimov congratulated the students who won AzerGold scholarships and wished them success in their studies and careers. Speaking about scholarship programs, the Chairman noted that the project was launched at the end of last year with the aim of timely mobilisation of resources when identifying staffing needs as part of the Company's medium and long-term strategy. The project's primary goal for students is to promote interest in education, reveal the potential knowledge and skills of talented students studying in the industry and mining field.

Zakir Ibrahimov also spoke about the joint actions taken by the Company towards personnel training with a number of universities and vocational schools in Azerbaijan. The chairman said that with the view to increase the professional knowledge of specialists, to establish mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of education, science, production and joint education programs, the work was carried out within the framework of memorandums of cooperation with 8 local educational institutions. In 2017, a memorandum was first signed with the Azerbaijan State University of Oil and Industry and the Azerbaijan State University of Architecture and Construction. In 2018, cooperation was launched with the Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy, while in 2019 with the Azerbaijan State Agrarian University, Azerbaijan University of Technology and Baku State University. Last year, we began cooperation with the Azerbaijan Technical University and the Baku Higher Oil School.

 

 

 

The Chairman of the Board noted that in accordance with the agreements reached with the universities, the Company regularly organizes site visits for those studying in the relevant field to Chovdar Integrated Regional Processing Area in Dashkasan. Thus, students who get scientific and theoretical knowledge in higher education institutions also gain visual experience. In addition, the specialists of the Joint-Stock Company deliver lectures, hold master classes, as well as various competitions and incentives. While attracting employees for the announced vacancies, the Company prefers the graduates who have participated in internship programs in accordance.

The Minister of Education Emin Amrullayev stressed the importance of existing cooperation with AzerGold CJSC in the field of vocational education. The Minister noted that implementing such scholarship programs can motivate young people. He also spoke about the need to involve employers in the vocational education and conduct training upon their requirements. At the end of his speech, Emin Amrullayev congratulated the students who won the scholarship program and wished them success.

 

Deputy Director of the State Agency for Vocational Education, Acting Director Jeyhun Karamov, in his turn, spoke about the existing cooperation between AzerGold CJSC and State Agency. Jeyhun Karamov said that a total of 56 students from the Baku State Vocational Training Centre for Industry and Innovation and the Ganja State Vocational Training Centre for Industry and Technology applied for the scholarship program implemented in accordance with the action plan on cooperation signed in 2021. Jeyhun Karamov added that the employees of AzerGold CJSC conducted in-service trainings for the teaching staff of several vocational schools and their visits to the company's production facilities were organized. In the current year, within the framework of cooperation, it is planned to develop new educational programs and upgrade the material and technical base.

 

Notably, 9 students from higher education institutions and 18 students from vocational education institutions won AzerGold scholarships. With the aim to support the social protection of students within the program, scholarships amounting to AZN 1,800 in total have already been awarded to each of the 27 winners for 9 months. The students participating in the program will be provided with jobs in relevant positions in the future.

Then the rectors of the universities represented by the winning students - Azerbaijan State University of Oil and Industry, Azerbaijan Technical University and Baku State University spoke about the work to be done within the memorandum of understanding signed with AzerGold and the importance of the scholarship programs for higher education institutions.

At the end, the students were honoured with certificates and souvenirs.
